Water sports: diving and jet skiing in Le Lavandou

A diver’s paradise, Le Lavandou is renowned for its seabed and the quality of its water. There are three diving clubs in the village. With these clubs, you can discover the wonders of the Port-Cros National Park, as well as submerged wrecks such as the Rubis, the Togo and the Donateur.

The Parc de Port-Cros is Europe’s first marine park, and its marine perimeter is home to a unique ecosystem: moray eels, moonfish, sea breams, girelles, gorgonians and more.

You can also go jet-skiing, soaking up the thrills and discovering the Mediterranean coast from the sea.

Bormes Les Mimosas

Just 4km from Le Lavandou, Bormes-les-Mimosas is a typical Provencal village with its old ochre and pink-tiled houses facing the Mediterranean. On the seafront, the marina area is great for a stroll and offers water sports activities for everyone. Bormes-les-Mimosas is bordered by a 22km stretch of coastline, offering plenty of opportunities for walks, with views of the islands. In the Cabasson district is the Fort de Bregançon, the summer residence of the Presidents, a visit not to be missed.

Grimaud

Located 26 km from Le Lavandou, Grimaud is a medieval village in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. Its 11th-century castle, at the top of the hill, offers a magnificent view of the surrounding area. Grimaud also has narrow streets, historic chapels and an old windmill. On the seaside, Port-Grimaud is often referred to as the Venice of Provence. In Port-Grimaud, you can only get around by electric boat or on foot, discovering the Provencal narrow streets and flower-filled facades.

What to do in Le Lavandou when it rains?

The Villa Théo in Le Lavandou is the perfect place to visit on a rainy day. Built in 1910, it is a perfect example of an early 20th-century holiday home. The house belonged to the painter Théo Van Rysselberghe, and is home to his many art collections.

Don’t forget to visit the church of Saint-Louis, built in 1885, with its astonishing warm colours and original frescoes. If you run out of ideas on a rainy day, why not go and see a film at the cinema in Le Lavandou!
